Looking through both Godaddy and Sedo, it's clear that a tiny percentage of domains entered have bids. This begs the question, is it worth entering a domain in an auction ? If it doesn't sell, and/or the bids reach nowhere near the reserve price, would this not have a detrimental effect on the potential future sale price via other avenues ?

if you post a name for sale here and it doesn't sell,

then you drop it and years later somebody else sells it...

did that have an effect on the person who resold it later, because it didn't sell here?

just saying

imo....

While auctioning a domain, most of the bidders are domain investors, and not the end-users. It depends how much is your outreach, if you have a real good name that may require lots of promotions to reach potential investors for that name.
