Chinese beer company grabs SnowBeer.com domain via UDRP

A Chinese beer manufacturer that proclaims to be the “largest in the world,” produces a beer called “Snow Beer.”

The holder of the domain SnowBeer.com was hit with a UDRP, for a domain they registered in 2003.

The Complainant, who operates from SnowBeer.com.cn, asserts that they produce the beer since 1960 under that brand.

Wikipedia states that Snow Beer, or more accurately “Snowflake Beer,” was first produced in 1993. The brand is not known outside of China, according to many sources.

The Respondent flat out stated they are in the business of “domain reselling” and appears to have not have an attorney involved in this case.

They claimed to have rights and legitimate interests in the domain name because “prior to the dispute it made preparations to use the domain name in association with a bona fide offering of goods, namely, the sale of beer, soda and tea.”

Debrett G. Lyons, sole panelist, found all three necessary points leading to a decision of transfer, and the domain SnowBeer.com will be transferred to the Complainant.
