    Exclamation Godaddy registrar still has name server hosts linked to it. Cant register with Enom

    Hi,

    I transferred one of my main domains from Godaddy to Enom. When at Godaddy, I had 4 hosts set up for the name servers.

    I planned to recreate them after it was successfully transferred to Enom. I have now successfully transferred the domain name but now when I go to register the name server hosts through Enom, it says the following:

    This nameserver is already registered.
    So i went to check the status of the nameserver and i get the following:

    Status Results

    ipaddress: <my server IP>
    attrib-id: <some host info>
    attrib-upid: godaddy
    server: <some server>
    attrib-clid: 048
    rgserver: <some code>
    attrib-update: 2016-06-04T07:50:40Z
    status: ok linked
    attrib-crid: godaddy
    attrib-crdate: 2007-10-23T21:52:39Z
    name: ns1.mydomainname.com
    So effectively I cannot register the nameserver now through enom. What now???

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks
    Wolvy

    Have you asked Enom support to look into this issue for you? If yes, then what did they say?
    Uptime Monitor - Minimize your downtime by being the first to know about it!

    Blacklist Monitor - Are any of your IPs or Domains blacklisted? Find out before it gets to affect you or your clients.

    Not as yet. I didnt think they could do anything as the name server was linked at godaddy. Also, enom support is really slow over email. Im probably going to have to call them.

    My best guess is that their error is generated by a cache response where your NS is still existing (from GoDaddy), in which case you'll just need to wait, but this is just my guess, which is why I suggested you contact their support so they can tell you directly what the issue is and how you can fix it.

    ok, enom was awesome. They explained to me that the name servers are registered at the registry and not the registrar and the name servers were transferred to enom when the domain was transferred. Enom just made the tag chages that were needed and said that all is good

    Thanks for your help Andei

    Glad you resolved this.

    I would like to explain what happens when you register/transfer a domain to clarify what happened here. When you register a domain all objects get created at the Registry:

    * domain name
    * Registrant Contact (except in the case of .com, .net and other Thin Registries)
    * Admin Contact (except in the case of .com, .net and other Thin Registries)
    * Billing Contact (except in the case of .com, .net and other Thin Registries)
    * Tech Contact (except in the case of .com, .net and other Thin Registries)
    * Name Servers
    * Child Name Servers
    * Auth/Authorization/Transfer Code

    When a domain gets transferred to another Registrar, all these objects get transferred over as well. However, the Child Name Servers sometimes are available to the other Registrar after sometime. The gaining Registrar needs to check and import these later.

    In this case my best guess is that Enom had to check why the Child Name Servers did not get imported in their platform and completed it when you contacted them.

    I hope this helps.
