Suggestion needed for selling a domain

    Hello:

I just received an offer from party to buy my domain. I guessed that the party wants to buy my domain is a fortune 500 company. The domain they are interested is a .com domain. They already purchased the corresponding .net domain and let it redirected to their another domain (live and active). They also own another similar domain, which is very similar to my current domain, only one letter difference (for example, my domain is xxxxxyxxxxx.com, their domain is xxxxxzxxxxx.com, my domain has the right spelling, their domain does not have the correct spelling. their xxxxxzxxxxx.com is live and active).

So what is your suggestions for me to get more $$$ for my domain? They only offered a couple thousands for my domain at this moment.

Is it wise to hold the domain and build up a site to attract users first?

    Thanks

It seems like an ideal situation for making a deal to me. They need the domain and want to have it. They seem like a perfect party who'd want to have the domain, too.

Yep I agree I would work out some kind of deal now that you can.

You run the risk if they own trademarks and so on just loosing it all together and not making anything if they want to go this route.

IF you are not using it I would make a counter offer to them for it.

if you are using it and you are making money with it take that into account when you do your counter offer

I'd definitely check with TESS to see if they had their name trademarked. There was a case a few years where NorthFace forced SouthButt to give up their domain. Good luck to you, sir.

Definitely make a counter-offer for it. Don't waste time building up the site- they aren't after your site content, just the domain name for traffic.

There are several domain name appraisal services (most of them are paid) where you can get the price range for your domain name.
But when it comes to the real life - your domain name costs as much as real buyer ready to pay for it.
