Hello everyone! I'm Gaya and I'm new here! I'm from the UK and I live in a little cosy town called Blackburn!

I am more or less a complete novice in the world of domain names, although I have registered a few domains in the past, but that's all. I don't even think I parked them properly, if at all! Currently I have four domains in the bag...better than having nothing I guess?

Initially I would like to learn about the options I have with the domains I currently posses. Shall I park them? If so, how? Are there any decent guides around that I can follow? Or shall I sell them? If so, how? What do you guys recommend? I have four domain names in the bag. I'm just wondering what to do with them. I would like to get them appraised, followed up with advise on what to do with them.

My short-term goals over the next year or so is to learn as much as I can about the world of domain name flipping and how to correctly, and successfully, navigate my way around in order to become good at it. And, of course to make some friends and connections with you guys on here! So don't be shy and say hi!

My long term goals over the next 5 years or so is to build up a decent portfolio of TLD's. Not just to sit on, but to generate passive income and to make a healthy number off them once I put them up for sale.

The reason I started investing in domains was due to the fact that I was intrigued and spurred on by the success stories others had experienced. I thought why not give it a shot as well!

I am wondering if the upcoming .shopping and .hotel extensions will have any potential in them? What do you think?

The main areas that I would like to delegate most when domaining would be market research/data mining, and the production and marketing of successful parked domains. So, if anyone has any advise or leads on how to go about this the best way, I would be grateful to hear from you!

Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me. I would love to hear from you. I could do with all the help I can get from you guys in this early stage!

Thanks for reading. Much appreciated :)

Hi Gaya and a very warm welcome to namepros!

You have a great attitude and are researching before buying extensively; good stuff! Top tip: never buy a domain without having a plan on how to sell it or develop it! Best of luck my friend.

Hi there! Thanks for getting in touch and for the tip! Great advice! The domains that I recently purchased was with the intention to start an online e-commerce business with them. But that didn't come to fruition. So I'm hoping you sell them on. I think they sound great, but would love to know the opinions of others and get some appraisals. How do you go about that anyway?

Hi Gaya. You've found the right place. There's a lot of wisdom buried in tons of messages here on NP. If you are interested in the Chinese domain market, try the Chinese Domain Discussion section or read my thread 域名|Chinese Perspective. If you have a question on Chinese domain names, just leave it in my thread.

Hi there! Thanks for getting in touch! I will certainly take a look in to it. It's something I've never considered or come across to be honest. But I am always open to ideas and opportunities!

There's an appraisal section here at namepros; you could post the names there. If you would rather not make them public and have them indexed by search engines, then send me a private message and I'll take a look. By the way, automated online appraisals are close to worthless.

Thanks! What are the pros and cons for each option? Why wouldn't I want to get them appraised publicly? Is there any danger in doing so if I did?

No danger as such, but let's say you're negotiating with a potential buyer and he or she searches for the name in Google and sees the namepros appraisal post in the search results. The buyer will then see the appraisal amount and this may weaken your hand when negotiating the deal.

You'll have to make a risk/reward assessment!

Ah, I see now. Since I'm not in the middle of any negotiations, I might as well get them appraised publicly to get a rough idea.

Hi Gaya, I'm not shy so a great big HI and welcome!

All of your questions can be found within the threads, you will find an array of opinions on what's the right way to do things, or whats the wrong way.

At the end of the day it's mostly trail and error... :)
