Chinese domain market report : China’s medal numbers plummet

Chinese domain sales report.

Chinese domain sales report.

The Olympic Games are over, and China has scored its smallest cache of Olympic gold in two decades.

The Rio 2016 Olympics delivered  plenty of defeat in sports China once ruled, such as gymnastics and badminton, disappointing millions of Chinese fans.

They also revived questions of doping among Chinese athletes, just 8 years after the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008.

Ultimately, China finished 3rd behind the US and Great Britain in the quest for gold, and many consider this to be a reflection of China’s unsteady economy.

Meanwhile, Chinese domain market sales have been losing volume, for the short domains in the 2 to 4 character range, and in the .CN, .COM and .NET TLDs that we are tracking.

Such transactions suffer from a drop in the median price, and once popular “domain Chips” barely make the $1,400 dollar mark these days.

Here is today’s list of domains, closing day of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil:
