DollarCity.com : Central American company files UDRP to get Mike Mann’s domain

A UDRP has been filed against the aged (2001) domain DollarCity.com, owned by domain investor, Mike Mann, for about a decade.

The UDRP has just been filed by Centroamerica Comercial, Sociedad Anonima de Capital Variable (CAMCO).

It appears to be a discount retail store company, with 25 locations in Guatemala and 39 in El Salvador, according to their Facebook page.

The domain DollarCity.com is currently listed for sale at DomainMarket with an asking price of $64,888 USD dollars.

According to an article in Spanish, the first DollarCity store in Guatemala opened in June 2015:

The chain opened in Guatemala its first room in June this year and today has branches in Expobodegas, Metronorte Mall, Muxbal, and soon in Eskala Roosevelt Roosevelt Mall.

“We believe in the Guatemalan market, a market that certainly accept this concept and is ready for our products. We have projected more growth in the near future because our vision is to continue offering customers a value proposition, “said Guillermo Montano, CEO of Dollarcity.

According to Bloomberg, the Dollar City chain had 15 stores in El Salvador in 2014 and was looking for an international expansion at the time. It found financial support in Dollarama, a Canadian retail company founded in 1992.

The case should be a landslide for the seasoned investor, Mike Mann, who appears to have owned this generic, two-word composite .com far longer than the El Salvadoran store chain existed.
