Hello NP (yet again)

I know I'm going to get chewed out by the pros here as a newbie making idiotic decisions in domaining but I'd like to see what people's answers and reactions are. I think it will make for good conversation.

So what do you think? Zika? Will Zika domains sell?

here's some numbers to look at.

From Google Keyword Planner. As far as Diseases or illnesses are concerned. here are some numbers (in terns of searches per month) to consider.

Cancer : 823,000/mo
Diabetes : 1,500,000/mo
Disease: 301,000/mo
illness: 60500/mo
heart attack 368,000/mo
Aids 550,000/mo
headache: 301,000/mo
mesothelioma : 165000/mo
syphilis : 673000/mo
gonorrhea : 450,000/mo
std : 368,000/mo
Ebola : 450,000/mo

Zika? gets 1,000,000 searches per month!

Would investing in such a keyword be folly?

I remember the whole "Ebola" scare.
thee only news about any sale of that niche was Ebola.org for $16,000
Then
Quebola.com for $557
and
Ebola.net for only $160

But that "fad" went away and it only gets 450,000/mo searches now even though there is not much mention about it in the news.

plus when it comes to these "disease" domains the ones the sell top price seem to be the ones that end in .org not .com. I guess people trust .org and figure .org would be some official government website not private.

so any thoughts on Zika's potential as a profitable keyword?

Let's hear it. I'm sure the usual Meanie's will chime in anyways. But then again everyone is welcome.

Other relevant sales data:

Cancerdiet.com $50K
Cancerhelp.com $40K
BreastCancer.net $35K
SmallCellLungCancer.com $25K
LungCancer.net $25K
SkinCancer.net $23K
Cancer.info $16K
CancerSupport.com $10K

Type2Diabetes.com $30K
Type2Diabetes.net $14,499
MyDiabetes.com $12,500
Diabetes.pro $4500
TheDiabetes.com $3500
DiabetesServices $2527

Aidsdrugs.com $8988
aidskids.org $1426
Aidshotline.org $1225
aidssymptoms.org $700
AidsLink.org
AidsInfoNYC.org $560

As you can above the highly search terms sold for good prices. and yet those keywords don't even come close the the amount of searches being conducted on Google for the keyword "Zika" (1 million searches per month)

can't wait to see the replies.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
None of those sales comps are relevant, cancer, AIDS, and diabetes are worldwide diseases that affect tens of millions of people yearly and which have medicine and treatments that are very expensive. People have known about Zika for maybe a month and there are infinitely fewer cases of it in only a few countries

You missed the biggest one. Ebola.com sold for a combo cash/stock deal worth 200K in 2014. (Seller purchased it a few years earlier for around 13K)

2 things with selling disease names:
  • If you can't snag the best ones, they're worthless.
  • You'll get loads of negative publicity if anyone outs you as the seller!

I understand that sales numbers don't matter because each niche is different in it's own respect but thee amount of searches for Zika per month alone is too much to ignore is it not?

the point of mentioning such sales is to show there is a demand for such keywords in domains because there is a demand such keywords in the monthly searches.

so if another "disease" keyword pops up and surpasses the rest monthly searches that have nice sales figures then my question is why wouldn't it be a good investment? Barring of course if this Zika disease becomes a "passing fad" like Ebola.

I'm a conspiracy theorist by hobby. and I personally think this Zika thing is just another attempt by world wide gov's to depopulate the world's population and at the same time make $$$$ off selling the "solution" aka medicine.

So I believe this keyword is sticking around and be done up by media PR push by the Big Pharma who will get the public into a frantic panic. Then they will bring the CURE which they probably created the disease anyways in some offshore laboratory like Plum Island.

HPV was not a hot topic before. not it is and now we have a vaccine for kids.. It's a disease that will cause cervical cancer if not treated in time (Depopulation again. by killing child bearing women.)

Does anyone see a vaccine or cure for Zika? I think so. $$$$$$.

There is no better Advertising than the NEWS. Zika causes deformaties in unborn Children. Oh no! the news hypes it up using words like Alert or Warning or showing a photo of a Mosquito with the caption Zika.

Aids,Diabetes, Cancer all started being recognized SLOWLY until it becomes labeled a "Global Epidemic". Just think of every country on the planet the can experience "hot weather" or "rain weather" where stagnant water (breeding grounds for mosquito larvae) can be found. Got a number in your head yet?

Aids is transmitted via sex and transmission of bodily fluids. cancer is caused by pretty much anything. Asbestos,HPV,Alcohol,Fatty foods, Sun radiation. but never a mosquito.

Now we have a disease that has the perfect delivery system. that targets the nicest hotspots in the world. This will kill the tourism industry for sure.

and now it's in Miami Florida?
It's in Brazil?
Name some hot regions?that can have mosquitos?

everything Middle East?
Saudi Arabia?
South America?
China?

Thee only countries that might be spared will be the "Cold areas" that have cold winters so they are spared at least part of the year.

But how did Mosquitos supposedly isolated in Brazil get to Miami? ummmmm was it delivered via FEDEX? or Amazon?

I wouldn't put it past any Corp to create such a disease in some secret lab somewhere and distribute around world via Mail.

and then wait for the need for THE CURE.

Zika is getting plenty of News AirTime/ Advertising.

so isn't it time for Zika Domains?

hmmm that's something to consider. So Whois privacy it is then?lol

but how did you find out that Ebola.com sale?

why would anyone be upset if finding how you owned or sold an Ebola or Zika domain? Clarify. seems childish.

I mean I could understand domains like Nazi or kkk whatever would be an issue. but negative press for Zika domains? I don't get it.

there are many Zika domains registered already. just wondered what people thought about the keyword Zika.

whoever owns Zika.com is set for a big payday for sure!

The best time to buy any keyword is before it has achieved widespread public awareness. Zika is famous so going forward expect zika buying opportunities to be no better nor worse than other well known keywords. It has been no secret for many years that zika.com has significant domain value due to its 4-letter pronounceable cvcv pattern, independent of word definition. The recent public sales reports of ebola.org ($16k in 2015) and zika.org ($3k in 2016) speak for themselves. Bottom line there is no evidence pointing to August 2016 being a great time to buy zika names.

You're new - It was big news at the time

Profiting from other peoples' misfortune, same as with tragedy domains.
