Corporate Domain Movers: Watson.com, Hangables.com + More

Welcome to Domain Movers, where DotWeekly keeps track of corporate domain name purchases, registrations and more. Here are the results of this monitoring for the past couple of days:

WeRocket.com has been acquired by a currently unknown MarkMonitor client, for an undisclosed amount.

Time Inc. has taken ownership of the domain name LifeVR.com. The domain has been in and out of whois privacy and dropped in 2013, but this appears to be a new purchase by Time recently.

Telepathy Inc. has sold the domain name FGC.com to Filtration Group for an undisclosed amount.

BPI has acquired PinkSlime.com (additive in beef) from Gregg Ostrick of GNO, Inc. BPI is the largest U.S. producer of Pink Slime.

Bayer AG registered the domain name FightNasty.com, adding to its domain name portfolio of well over 14,000 domains.

Akamai Technologies, Inc. registers AkaRegistrar.com/.net domain names via the Akamai Technologies, Inc. registrar.

The Endurance International Group, Inc. has acquired the domain name MyWebsiteBuilder.com via Afternic.

CBS Interactive has taken ownership of 247Sports.com. They acquired the website in December 2015.

Twitter, Inc. registered the domain name TinterActive.co. The .com is for sale and owned by HugeDomains for $2,395. Twitter also registered TinterActive.net on the same day it registered the .co domain. One would expect that whatever they have planned, they would acquire TinterActive.com!

Microsoft Corporation has taken control of MileIQ.com. They purchased Mobile Data Labs in November 2015, who created the miles tracking app.

The Boston Consulting Group (BCG.com) has acquired WonderBill.com from HugeDomains.com for about $1,895.

Revlon registered the domain name TheVeryNature.com on June 29, 2016 under SAS Licenses Limited.

Mike Mann’s DomainMarket.com sold PersonalPlanner.com for $43,000. The transaction is being handled by Sedo and the buyer is currently unknown as it’s early in the transaction. Mike purchased the domain for $900 in 2008. Mike also sold CareYourWay.com for $24,888, a domain he paid $10 for in 2010.

Velcro USA Inc. has acquired the domain name Hangables.com via Afternic from BuyDomains.com, which sounds like a future brand name to me. In fact, Velcro announced HANGables in August 2016, which are removable wall fasteners. The domain name has been registered since August 2004.

Cereb.com has been acquired by Histogenetics Lab, Inc. from Name Media Inc. for an undisclosed amount. The domain has been registered since 1997.

Salesforce.com has acquired Einstien.com from Frank Schillings Name Administration Inc. to go along with the common spelling Einstein.com, which DotWeekly broke the news on the purchase.

Paramount Pictures has acquired the domain name SilenceMovie.com from HugeDomains.com for about $3,795

UDK.com has transferred into MarkMonitor under the generic whois data DNStination Inc. The domain is redirecting to UnrealEngine.com which is owned by Epic Games and the Unreal Development Kit.

Did IBM acquire Watson.com? They may have as the domain name is unlocked and transferred out of MarkMonitor to NOM IQ LTD (DBA COM LAUDE). If IBM didn’t purchase it, they may have access to the domain name through a partnership with Teva Pharmaceuticals.

It gets complicated, but here is some of what I see. Watson Laboratories, Inc. owned Watson.com. Watson Laboratories became Actavis after Watson acquired them. Teva then acquired Actavis in 2016. In September 2015, Teva announced that they were partnering with IBM on health solutions with IBM Watson.

Currently, Watson.com is redirecting to TevaPharm.com. With the partnership, it would make sense that IBM put Watson.com to use for IBM Watson.
