Just in Time for Halloween - High End of the Market Goes Missing Making it a Scary Week for Domain Sales

It's just one week so really no reason for alarm but it does seem fitting that one of the year's slowest (thus scariest) weeks of domain sales to date would come with Halloween dead ahead. The highest sale reported this week was $35,000 and that was for a domain from the ever popular 3-letter .com category - RHD.com - by way of Sedo. The next best sale on our all extension Top 20 Sales Chart was MarketingConsultants.com, sold by Sharjil Saleem (AE Server) for $25,000 sale in a private transaction.

Those two were among only ten reported sales that reached five figures. While we wouldn't suggest dropping your unsold domains into the neighborhood kid's trick or treat bags Monday night (unless you want your windows soaped!), we are hopeful this will turn out to be just one of those unusually sleepy weeks we see from time to time.

When overall prices are lower like they were this week, the door is left open for more non .com domains to takes places on the elite list. That was certainly the case this time out as ccTLDs took the next three spots on the Big Board and six places overall. Sedo, who swept 18 of the 20 chart entries, produced all of those country code sales and rounded out the first five with #3 eSports.co.uk ($24,394), #4 Borderline.de ($16,350) and Leesa.eu ($15,000).

By Ron Jackson

The non .com gTLDs didn't fare as well. They were limited to one representative on the leader board - Sedo's $8,500 sale of #12 (tie) CEP.org.

The .coms took everything else including the SnapNames sale of #10 (tie) Wanxuan.com at $10,000.

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org, .biz, .info & others, including new gTLDs)

It was especially quiet in the non .com gTLD aisle this week with only seven sales reported for the entire category. One of those - CEP.org at $8,500 - made the all extension leader board you saw at the top of this report. This biggest sale in this group  that you haven't seen yet is #2 on our latest weekly Non .Com gTLD Top Sales Chart - Areo.net at $2,999 via Sedo.
