This has been one of the hottest topics in the SEO world for some time now, how does being listed in DMOZ impact your rank in Google. There are rumors that a single DMOZ link could propel your site onto the first page of Google, if only life was this easy. DMOZ is a great directory to be in, but it’s not the only high-quality link source out there. There are plenty of new sources like CNN and BBC that will provide an even more powerful link than DMOZ.
If you haven’t heard of DMOZ.org, let me explain. DMOZ is the open directory project, a directory regulated by volunteers with all entries hand verified. This certainly makes the directory much more reliable than most of the directories online that let absolutely anyone in. Just like Wikipedia has become a volunteer-regulated authority information source, DMOZ has become a volunteer regulated authority directory.
