Hi just wondering if I could get your opinions on buying domains off Ebay - positives and negatives, profits and losses etc.

    Cheers

Don't buy domains from eBay. Go to some great ICANN registered domain name registrar and buy domains from those directories. What I recommend is Godaddy and Namecheap. Please check by signature below for more info on Godaady and namecheap.

    I think it's a risk - check out Sedo.com. (they have a good reputation)

If it's a good domain at a good price, then buy it. If not, then don't. Same with any product.

If you buy a domain name off of eBay - make sure that there are no trademark issues with the domain name.

The same is true for buying a domain from any place.

I wouldn't think there would be any issues, Ebay's seller reputation should be a good indicator of whether or not you are working with a reputable seller.

Try buying already paged ranked and and aged domains with this software http://goo.gl/Ni9le. It's so far one of the best products I've found. I use GoDaddy to buy my domains http://goo.gl/RqP9l.

Personally I have never had any issues using eBay as far as buying domains. I have however seen domains go for significantly under their true market value, compared to what they would have sold for in a proper domain marketplace.

There is a lot of junk names on eBay, but occasionally you can run into a gem.

overall you never know what you will get buying domains off of eBay, it can be sketchy to say the least.

I've seen this, too. In fact, Harcore Gamer magazine was sold on eBay, a gaming forum was sold there, too... I only wished I had a huge bank, like an investor would... Otherwise I'd bought that site. :(
This is true everywhere. Not just eBay.

I wouldn't bother using Ebay as you'll have to pay a comission which automatically makes your domains more expensive.

Any savvy buyer will look at that and be put off. There are plenty of good services out there where you can negotiate for domains, buying and selling, privately, which means you won't have to pay comission.

There are better, safer places where you can buy domain names. If you are intent on getting the domain name and it's only available in eBay, then make sure that it is not trademarked and that it is registered to the person selling it.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!
