Miami gets its own domain name today.
I didn’t get around to my usual weekly roundup of domain name launches, but there’s a big one happening today at noon ET: .Miami.
.Miami joins .NYC and .Vegas as the only .city domain names in the United States.
Unlike many of the other geo domain name launches, it’s also quite cheap. 1&1 is offering first year registrations for $11.99 ($22.99 renewal) and GoDaddy has a first year price of $14.99 ($24.99 renewal). 101Domain has an everyday price of $18.99.
All three of these registrars (and many more) are offering pre-registrations.
Some domain names have premiums, but the ones I checked were all fairly reasonable, especially for actual businesses in Miami.
.Miami is open to everyone, so you don’t have to live in Miami to register a domain name.

I wouldn’t register with 1 & 1 even if they paid me to register with them

.Miami and.NYC are pretty good litmus tests for the viability of the .geo model. I’ll be interested to see how much local adoption occurs over the next 1-2 years.

Its great that you can reg .Miami domains from anywhere plus the fact that its so new offers people a chance to secure some decent domains in many niches.
My first & not last dot Miami domain purchase had too be the most obvious to me which happened to still be available Oct 2:
