Spaceship Spaceship
The domain market has been slow recently, with public domain sales records for this week showing no sales above $65,000. Privately however, there are plenty of deals happening amongst investors, brokers and end-users, well into the seven figure range. These are deals that may not necessarily be reported due to non-disclosure agreements, but there is still plenty of movement in the short domain space.

Here are this week's Top Topics.

Is a Domain Portfolio an Asset?

In the past year, domain names have been likened to stocks, thanks to the popularity of Chinese premium domains (Chips), which have traded at specific price points and have been affected by the same events and constrictions that have affected stock markets worldwide.

Whilst it could be deemed easy to value a portfolio of Chips based on current prices, it's far more difficult for one or two word domains, or brandable names. How do you value a domain portfolio? How do you determine whether a portfolio is an asset or just an expense?

A Sharp Rise in Four-Letter .COM Values

According to reports, a portfolio of 550 four-letter .COM domains has been acquired by a group of investors, which has triggered an increase in the volume and value of the four-letter .COM domains being traded.
There is no firm evidence currently available to back up these claims, but ChaoMi has shown a sharp rise of 8.76% in the value of four-letter .COM domains over within the past 24 hours.

Will this news mean anything for the four-letter .COM domain space? Four-letter .COM Chips have seen a gradual decline since the start of 2016, with average prices falling from over $2,300 per name to around $1,300 per name.

A Stolen Domain: AQM.com

Unfortunately, domain theft is something that still occurs, with high value three-letter .COMs being one of the most targeted categories recently. An investor has published the news that his domain name: AQM.com has been stolen.

The investor said that the domain name was moved from eNom to NameSilo by the thief, and was then moved on to the Chinese domain registrar, eName. According to the discussion, the registrars haven't been helpful, and the domain name is yet to be recovered.
