Escrow.com's 2-week silence (WARNING)

(This post is regarding a Domain Name Holding transaction)

So far, since I set the transaction up on July 5, I've received two emails from Escrow:

July 5: Your transaction was successfully created on Escrow.com
July 5: All parties have agreed to the transaction

Then..... silence. Over the next week, I emailed twice and called twice. Still, no movement on the transaction, no reason as to what the holdup was.

I called again today (more than two weeks after the transaction was started), and was told "Oh, our domain holding transaction guy is on vacation, but I just talked to him and he'll get the transaction agreement set up right away."

Say whaaa? Nothing's been done in over 2 WEEKS? At this point, I'm half expecting to lose the $2,500 sale because this nincompoop decided to take off for the beach and leave everybody hanging.

What the hell kind of show are they running over there nowadays? THIS is what I'm paying them $333 for?!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
On vacation??? Totally bizarre...

Next to safety, customer service and speed should be their important priorities.

That is what we pay for...

I warned about this in another thread.
Most unfortunate OP, but it doesn't shock me.

Just check where the warrior forum is now compared to 2 years ago when FL took it over and you'll understand why i'm as concerned about escrow.com as I am. I really hope it improves and doesn't go the way of WF!

Shocking. Do they not realise there are alternatives.

All partys already agreed.

And its a Domain Name Holding transaction. Not a normal escrow domain sale.

And mid July is height of vacation time.

But yeah one would hope that more than one person is capable of writing this up, and that it would take less than two weeks.

Good Luck Bro

For sure, I get that a lot of people are on vacation this time of year. But if there is indeed only ONE person working on domain name holding transactions, they need to at minimum send out notices to everyone involved in such transactions informing them that July is their vacation time so you're gonna have to wait. Better yet, share duties in those instances. It's not complicated stuff here.

There's quite a queue lining up behind those two. I confess to not having used any of them though. Maybe others can shed some light?

Hmm, too poor to own a .com? Strange.

.DOMAINS is s great extension for this, at least in my opinion. Note that they now are redirecting the .COM to the .DOMAINS. Not the other way around.

On topic: I have not tried them. Yet.

Agreed.com is also owned by Escrow.com. It was acquired by them some time ago...

They should have been a little responsible with Work & Play...

that's all i would say..

The escrow service within Sedo is always worth looking at. Have used that successfully for non-Sedo domains a few times.

And if you're in Australia EscrowAngel.com.au is the one I've used here.

Sedo is next on my list to try. I've of course used their marketplace before, but never did try their escrow-only service. Fee is 3%, which I'm happy to pay assuming they can provide a simple transaction.

Any recommendations for another Domain Holding escrow service besides Escrow.com? IMHO they're too pricey anyways (paying $25/month for the term + the escrow fee).

** BTW, Jackson @ Escrow is looking into my issue. So, there's that. Let's see if the buyer still wants to proceed...

If you have not already, might I suggest the chat interface they offer for customer service. I used it twice and they responded quickly and got it done. Best of luck, I hope it goes smoothly.

I had same problem it took them 2 weeks to process one domain transaction, with some poor customer service and in the end they shorted me $25, I know what the fees are, and fees for payment disbursement but they reset my agreement amount by $25 after buyer paid for the full amount. i didn't know they could just reset agreed upon amount half way in the transaction. In the past it has taken 3-4 days max for domain transaction completion, and they use to have fast customer service support. I don't know about them anymore. I also almost lost a 5 fig sale because escrow was so late , and was buyer first experience using escrow and probably his last. Buyer was also considering other domain and was close to backing out and purchasing a different name that included a site. In the end escrow was finally able to complete the domain agreement process, and buyer is now happy with his purchase and working to build site on it.
