.NYC auction features 20 domain names.
A registry auction on NameJet featuring 20 .NYC domain names ends this afternoon.
The domain names have a heavy real estate emphasis. Real estate domain names have an obvious appeal in New York City, which is known for its high real estate prices.
As of right now, apartments.NYC is leading the pack with a $1,600 bid. I expect it to go much higher because there are 57 bidders in the auction. (All 20 auctions have at least 20 bidders already.)
RealEstate.nyc is in second place at $1,310 and Condos.nyc follows at $760.
As a point of comparison, 10 .nyc domain names sold for at least $10,000 during landrush.
There is a $500 reserve on all 20 auctions. Bidders must meet .nyc ownership requirements that mandate either living or owning a business in New York City.

Curious what happens if the winning bidder fails to meet local NYC requirements.
Automatic win for the 2nd highest bidder? Re-auctioned by NameJet? Assigned to the winner but deleted by the registry later on?

If those domains go cheap that would be truly amazing.

They didnt go cheap, but they certainly weren’t expensive.
